Cellulite and Liposuction: What You Should Know
![]() |
When considering liposuction to remove cellulite, there are several things to think about before deciding if this procedure works for you. First of all, it is important to understand that while liposuction can remove some of your cellulite, it may not remove all of it. Opponents argue that liposuction does not remove cellulite because it does not affect the areas where cellulite occurs. So, if this procedure cannot get rid of cellulite, what can?
The bad news is that cellulite is extremely hard to eliminate completely once it has occurred. The good news is that you can certainly reduce the appearance of cellulite and decrease your chances of getting it. The healthiest way to deal with your cellulite problem is with regular cardiovascular and strength training exercise. As stated before, this may not rid your body of all the cellulite, but it may substantially improve the appearance of it. Cellulite does not discriminate, as even famous celebrities and super-fit models have been photographed with cellulite in plain view. This problem is sometimes seen in girls as young as 14 but is most common for women aged 30 or older.
If you do decide to try liposuction, it is crucial to have the procedure performed by a board certified cosmetic surgeon with lots of experience. Make sure you see the proper licenses, and ask the surgeon for before and after pictures of previous clients. This will give you a better idea regarding the results you can expect to achieve. It's important to understand that after liposuction, not only could your cellulite still be there, it could look even more apparent than before. This is because after the procedure you may have loose skin.
Cellulite and liposuction seem to go hand in hand, but in reality they are not very compatible. A better way to remove your cellulite is with exercise and healthy diet, as recommended before. You may want to try supplemental treatments like laser therapy or Endermologie before considering something as drastic and expensive as lipo. Or, you could try topically applied creams to help tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite. When combined with other types of cellulite treatments, these creams can improve the skin's texture and make cellulite less apparent.
